These are the currently active criminal courts which make up the Sacramento County Superior Court. The court that you are assigned, will depend upon where you were initially pulled over or where the traffic collision occurred. The Date and time for your first court date will be at the bottom of your notice to appear, for those notices that look like a traffic ticket. If they give you an 8 1/2" x 11" notice, it can be an anywhere on the document. If you bailed out with a bail bondsman, then there will be no notice to appear. In this event, the bondsman would give you the date. You must appear in court on all felony filings, but if you secure a law firm to represent you, then the attorney will be able to represent you in your absence.
Sacramento County District Attorney:
The Office of the District Attorney is the law enforcement branch of the court system, that decides whether your case has facts sufficient to prosecute. This office is generally reasonable to deal with as opposed to some other, more 'conservative' counties. These individuals are experienced, government lawyers. They are your opposition. They are the individuals with whom we negotiate in order to make you the best deal to close your case (in the event that you have no dismissal issues in your police reports).

Sacramento County Court Specific DUI Penalties
Sacramento County Superior Court Penalties:

However, those penalties have a vast range so that the different courts in California may choose what they consider appropriate in their county. If a case does not have a dismissal issue, then these are the penalties we must work through with the court:
Like all counties, Sacramento County has penalties specific to the Sacramento Court System. The most notable ones are listed below:

All first offense DUI convictions- 2 days county jail minimum

Collisions- 5 days additional jail minimum

2nd Offense DUI cases- 10 days jail minimum

3rd Offense DUI- 120 days jail minimum

High Alcohol Levels (.15% or more)- additional jail
Sacramento County Superior Court Jail Alternatives:

Electronic Monitoring- So long as the Judge does not object, you may be referred to private electronic monitoring. You would pay for the service and avoid jail by being at home for 50% of the sentence. You may work, go to school and other life's necessities, but otherwise must be at home.

Work Release- Sheriff Work Alternative Program is in lieu of jail. It is an 8 hour work day that you apply for and schedule with the Sheriff. Each day counts for a day of jail, however you do get good conduct credits. Typically 50% off your sentence.
